A Plastering Team You Can Plan Around
Richmond Plastering is a team of London plasterers based in Shepherd’s Bush. We work on a wide range of projects, from residential to commercial, as well as new builds and refurbishments. We know that every job is a big investment for you and that you want it done quickly and right, so our team works with you on every step, from the first plan to the final touches.
We arrive at the agreed time, all the time, and come well equipped for the job at hand. That is how we stick to the timelines and the quotations we give. We were one of the 2023 winners of the SME Greater London Enterprise Awards, and we hold a 5.0 rating on Google.
What We Plaster
Float and set
A floating coat brings the wall back true, then a setting coat finishes it. Suited to walls that are uneven, patched or stripped back.
Skimming
A thin finish coat over sound walls and new plasterboard, trowelled flat and ready for decoration.
Dry lining
Plasterboard fixed to walls, ceilings and sloping rooms in lofts and top floors, ready to skim.
Internal rendering
Sand and cement or lime, scratched and keyed, then finished. Used in basements, extensions and on solid masonry walls.
Lime plastering
Breathable lime plasters for period homes with solid walls or lath and plaster, so moisture can leave the wall.
Plaster repairs
Damaged plaster taken out and repaired, then walls and ceilings replastered, reinforced with fibreglass mesh where the job needs it.

How a Plastering Job Runs
- Free consultationYou tell us about the walls and the rooms. We come back to you, talk through your plans and price the job, with no obligation.
- We look at the walls firstEvery property is different. We check the condition of the walls and any signs of damp, and find the cause of any moisture before plastering starts. Older homes may need lime and sympathetic repair methods.
- Written quotationThe quotation sets out the preparation, the materials, the plastering method and the time the work should take. Once it is agreed, we keep to it.
- PreparationFloors and furniture are protected, damaged backgrounds are repaired and the right bonding is applied where the wall needs it. Good preparation is a large part of a good finish.
- PlasteringA float coat and setting coat, a scratch coat keyed and finished, or a skim over sound walls and new boards, depending on the wall. Corners straight, ceiling lines crisp and surfaces even.
- Drying and decorationThe plaster dries naturally to an even light pink. After that it is ready for a mist coat and your decorator.
Plasters and Materials We Use
Alongside standard plastering, we install a range of breathable, natural plasters for older buildings and healthier rooms. Full details of each product are on our materials page.
- Breathaplasta UniversalA multi-purpose breathable plaster for plasterboard, wood fibre board, existing plaster and build-up on solid masonry. It sets in about 45 minutes.
- Breathaplasta SmoothA fine finishing plaster, two passes of 1 to 2 mm for a 3 mm finish that sets in about 60 minutes. We used both Breathaplasta plasters on the room in our interior walk-through video.
- Lime Green DuroA ready-mixed lime plaster undercoat and render base coat for conservation, repair and refurbishment work, suitable for walls affected by damp or salts.
- Lime Green UltraA lightweight insulating lime base coat that adds a layer of insulation to internal walls and plugs small gaps in the wall fabric.
- EWI-747 Lime Render NHL 3.5Natural hydraulic lime render for solid brick, stone and traditional masonry, inside and out.
- EWI-749 Fine Finish Lime PlasterA super-fine lime finish over a breathable lime base or plasterboard, which can be polished or finished in lime paint or limewash.
- Sand and cementRender for internal and external walls, scratched and keyed, as in the North London extension above.
- Fibreglass meshBedded into the plaster to reinforce new surfaces, as specified for the Berry Bros. & Rudd showroom.

Plastering Questions
Which parts of London do you cover?
We plaster homes and commercial buildings across Greater London, in North, South, East, West and Central London. Our base is at 74a Coningham Rd in Shepherd’s Bush, W12, and our jobs run from Barnet and Highgate in the north to Clapham and Penge in the south, and from Greenford and Chiswick in the west to Shoreditch and Stratford in the east.
Do you use lime plaster on period homes?
Yes. Victorian, Edwardian and Georgian homes often have original lime plaster on timber lath, and modern gypsum plaster on traditional lime walls can trap moisture in the structure. For walls like these we use breathable lime plasters and renders, such as the lime render on the Brook Green basement flat, put on as a scratch coat, keyed, then finished in lime.
How soon can new plaster be painted?
Fresh plaster should dry naturally. Extra heat to speed it up raises the risk of shrinkage and cracking. Once it has dried to an even light pink colour it is generally ready for a mist coat before the final decoration.
Do you take on commercial plastering?
Yes. Past work includes an office refurbishment at Liverpool Street, the Lidl stores in Shepherd’s Bush and Denmark Hill, the Cumberland Hotel, a private school in Clapham, St Paul’s Girls’ School and the heritage showroom of Berry Bros. & Rudd near St James’s Palace.
Do you fit plasterboard as well as plaster?
Yes. We dry line walls, ceilings and sloping rooms with plasterboard, then skim the boards to a flat finish, as on the top floor refurbishment in Highgate.
